- Elon Musk said in July that Grok Imagine would make a full-length, “historically accurate” version of Homer’s poem, “true to the art of Homer,” by the end of 2026; Friday’s seven-minute installment only partially followed through.
- Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker received “creative collaboration” credit for the episode, with both described as specialists in AI filmmaking.
- Scott Derrickson, the director of Doctor Strange and The Black Phone, had earlier called the project absurd and said Musk’s opinions on art were “worthless.”
- Elon Musk accused Chris Nolan of casting Elliot Page as Sinon and Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy to satisfy the Academy’s representation and inclusion standards for Oscar eligibility, calling Nolan an “anti-White racist” in March.
- Elon Musk offered no further statement with Friday’s episode, and his original July post about the full-length project likewise carried no accompanying update.
Why it matters: Musk’s July promise made a full-length, historically accurate film due by the end of 2026 the benchmark. Friday’s seven-minute episode only partially matched that undertaking: it supplied the first installment, credited Wonder Studios and Dev Walker, and came without a new statement from Musk clarifying the unfinished feature.
