- CAE Inc. reported Q1 profit attributable to equity holders of $31-million, down from $57.2-million in the same quarter last year, with EPS falling to 10 cents from 18 cents
- CAE posted Q1 revenue of $1.17-billion, a 6.8% year-over-year increase from $1.10-billion
- CAE's civil aviation segment generated $641.6-million in revenue, up from $607.7-million year-over-year
- CAE's defence segment recorded $531.8-million in revenue, rising from $490.9-million a year earlier
- CAE held an adjusted backlog of $19.2-billion at quarter-end, down slightly from $19.5-billion in the prior-year quarter
Why it matters: CAE's revenue grew across both civil aviation and defence while profit nearly halved, suggesting margin compression is eating into top-line gains — a concern for shareholders despite the backlog holding near $19.2-billion in forward work.
