- ZQ Entertainment, Prime Universe Films, and Longevity Pictures acquired exclusive motion picture and television rights to Dual Effect's survival horror franchise Tormented Souls.
- ZQ Entertainment is financing the development and co-financing production; Prime Universe's Adrian Askarieh, ZQ's Ara Keshishian and Petr Jakl, and Longevity's Majd Nassif will produce the project.
- Dual Effect's Gabriel Araneda Quijada and Germán Araneda Quijada will serve as executive producers alongside Pure Imagination Studios' Josh Wexler.
- Tormented Souls was originally released on Steam by developer Dual Effect and publisher PQube Games, then expanded to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, and spawned the sequel Tormented Souls 2.
- The game is set inside the abandoned Wildberger Hospital, following Caroline Walker as she searches for two missing twin girls amid supernatural forces and grotesque experiments.
- Adrian Askarieh, President of Prime Universe Films, called the franchise "the beginning of a major horror franchise," citing a passionate worldwide audience that grew from its indie roots.
Why it matters: Prime Universe's Adrian Askarieh — producer of the Hitman feature franchise — teaming with ZQ's financing puts a credible, genre-tested production team behind a proven indie horror IP, giving Tormented Souls a serious path from gaming to screens rather than a low-budget straight-to-stream port.
