- "La Perra" sold internationally via Lucky Number to France (Nour Films), Austria (Stadtkino), Greece (Neo Films), the Baltics (A-One Baltics), Bulgaria (Beta), Portugal (Nitrato), Poland (Best Film), Colombia (Babilla Cine), Mexico and Argentina (Mirada), the U.K. (Day For Night) and ex-Yugoslavia (MCF Megacom).
- Dominga Sotomayor's film won the Palm Dog Award at Cannes' Directors' Fortnight and is set on a remote Chilean island, starring Manuela Oyarzún as a seaweed harvester whose life changes after she takes in a stray puppy named Yuri.
- "La Perla" (correcting: "La Perra") has screened at Karlovy Vary, Melbourne, San Sebastian, Busan, BFI London Film Festival and the Viennale, with Lucky Number unveiling its international poster and trailer ahead of the Mostra de São Paulo premiere.
- RT Features, the Rodrigo Teixeira-led Brazilian company behind "I'm Still Here," "Call Me by Your Name" and "The Lighthouse," produced the film with Chilean banner Planta (whose credits include Cannes Critics' Week winner "Simon of the Mountain").
- Dominga Sotomayor became the first woman to win Locarno's Leopard for best direction with "Too Late to Die Young" in 2018, following her Rotterdam Tiger Award-winning debut "Thursday Till Sunday" (2012) and Berlinale Forum premiere "Mar" (2015).
Why it matters: The 12-territory sale confirms strong arthouse demand for Sotomayor, the first woman to win Locarno's directing Leopard, while extending RT Features' streak of backing award-circuit Latin American cinema after Walter Salles' Oscar-winning "I'm Still Here."
