- Zendaya is set to star in an untitled A24 sci-fi film written and directed by Alex Garland, with shooting planned for next year and plot details under wraps.
- A24 has worked with Garland since his Oscar-nominated breakout Ex Machina; their joint filmography spans Warfare, Civil War, Men, and the upcoming Elden Ring adaptation (March 3, 2028, starring Kit Connor, Cailee Spaeny and Ben Whishaw).
- Zendaya's prior A24 credits — HBO's Euphoria (multiple Emmys, Golden Globe) and The Drama with Robert Pattinson ($134M+ worldwide) — set up her leap into Garland's prestige sci-fi orbit.
- Zendaya has also been attached to play Ronnie Spector in Barry Jenkins' Be My Baby, another A24 title first reported by Deadline.
- Zendaya's 2026 box office: Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has topped $1.7B worldwide and Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed $2.5B, before she reprises as Chani in Dune: Part Three (December 18).
- Outside A24, Garland recently wrote and produced 28 Years Later and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple for Sony Pictures; he is repped by WME and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
Why it matters: A24 is doubling down on Garland — its most decorated filmmaker — by handing him a star of her current theatrical revenue, extending a studio-filmmaker bond that has produced four features since 2015 and now adds a marquee lead from two of 2026's biggest global hits.
