- Nick Valensi has been on an indefinite hiatus from the Strokes since May, with no reason for his absence stated and rumors circulating.
- Nick Valensi spent the last few months performing onstage with Jack White, Nigel Godrich and Dhani Harrison’s group, Dragonflies.
- Duran Duran performed in Paris with Nick Valensi, where Simon Le Bon introduced the guitarist as “the amazing guitarist” while noting his Strokes affiliation.
- Duran Duran had to restart its performance of “Rio” because of technical difficulties, prompting Valensi to quip, “I don’t know how to fix shit like this.”
Why it matters: What matters is the schedule: Nick Valensi’s indefinite Strokes hiatus began in May with no reason or return date stated, while the last few months include four collaborators—Jack White, Nigel Godrich, Dragonflies and Duran Duran. The Strokes are without their guitarist for that stretch, but he has not been offstage.
