- Bluesky launched Attie, an agentic social app that uses Anthropic's Claude to let users design custom feeds via natural language, unveiled by CEO Jay Graber and Paul Freeze at ATmosphereConf.
- Attie is currently available as an invite-only closed beta and is billed as the first agentic social app on the AT Protocol (atproto).
- The app aims to make feed-building as simple as chatting — users describe what they want and Attie generates a customized feed, removing the need for engineering skills to customize the open network.
- Community reaction was mixed: one Bluesky user (@durvidimel) called it Bluesky's "MySpace moment" for customizable social, while another (@mmatt.net) flagged a paradox that Attie's target audience of non-technical users may be the most AI-skeptical.
- Andres Castañeda posted on LinkedIn that Bluesky built Attie to make social media better "without just turning it into a 'content factory.'"
Why it matters: This positions Bluesky's open-network AT Protocol as a venue for AI-mediated feeds, competing with Grok and similar products while leaning on Claude as the inference layer. The invite-only beta — coupled with visible community skepticism from the very users the product targets — means Bluesky is testing whether natural-language feed-building can scale beyond the engineering crowd that built the protocol's existing custom feeds.
