- Scarlett Johansson joins "The Batman: Part 2" cast, announced by Matt Reeves on X with a photo from her 2013 film "Under the Skin" and the caption "Next exit, Gotham… Welcome"; her involvement was first reported in December.
- Sebastian Stan is cast as Harvey Dent, with Reeves posting "In a Gotham state of mind… Welcome"; the "Thunderbolts*" star was first reported in talks for the role in January.
- Charles Dance and Brian Tyree Henry are also confirmed, with Dance believed to be playing Charles Dent, Harvey's father; Henry previously appeared in "Joker" and "Eternals."
- Sebastian Koch, known for "Homeland" and "A Good Day to Die Hard," rounds out the new additions, while Jayme Lawson and Gil Perez-Abraham return as Mayor Bella Reál and Officer Martinez.
- Robert Pattinson reprises Bruce Wayne alongside returning cast members Colin Farrell (Oz Cobb), Jeffrey Wright (Commissioner Gordon), and Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), with filming currently underway in the U.K.
- Reeves said the sequel will focus more on Bruce Wayne as a person, noting the first film was "so focused on Batman" and that he "never wanted to lose [Robert Pattinson] at the center of these stories."
- "The Batman: Part 2" is set to open in theaters on October 1, 2027, with a winter setting hinted at by Reeves's "SnowTires" Batmobile teaser post.
Why it matters: This casting round gives the sequel major star power — including a Black Widow actress and a Marvel co-star playing iconic Batman villain Harvey Dent — signaling Reeves is building out a deeper Gotham crime world. With Pattinson and the full returning cast locked and filming active in the U.K., the October 1, 2027 release date becomes a concrete target rather than speculation.
