- Microsoft opened preorders for the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box at $5,999, with shipping scheduled for November and the device framed as a high-end AI mini PC for developers.
- The Surface RTX Spark Dev Box ships with 128GB of unified memory to run local AI models with 120B+ parameters and is Nvidia-powered, per the truncated source.
Why it matters: Microsoft is selling a $5,999 Nvidia-powered dev workstation to AI developers who want to run 120B+ parameter models locally — a price point sitting between HP's $2,999.99 RTX Spark laptops and $7,000 configurations flagged by The Verge. Developers get a Microsoft-bundled path to on-device large-model inference on Nvidia hardware.
