- Amazon replaced its usual big fall hardware showcase with smaller launches throughout October, including new Fire TV devices, new Kindles, the Alexa Tablet Pro 12, Ring’s first smart lock, Bee’s new hardware and new Blink 4K cameras.
- Echo Show 16 was unveiled at the New York event as one of five new Echo speakers and displays, alongside Echo Time, Alexa Photo Frame, Echo Studio with Home Camera and a new Echo Dot; The Verge said almost all of Amazon’s new Echo gear is available now.
- Alexa Plus received an updated “new brain” with deeper research alongside its usual tasks of controlling lights, setting timers and playing music, as Amazon targeted the home as a setting AI has been harder to unlock.
- Card collects each Alexa Plus chat on Show devices and appears in the Alexa app and on Alexa.com, allowing users to continue conversations wherever they are.
- Echo Show 16 will receive dedicated home screens, an interactive 3D map for smart-home control and a meal-planning feature first, with the software rolling down to existing Show products.
- Panos Panay, Amazon’s senior vice president of devices, Alexa and Leo, said the staged event’s “most important focus” was the home and teased two more launches from Ring and “Echo on the Go.”
Why it matters: Amazon is extending its AI and interface upgrades beyond the five-device hardware refresh: features will trickle down to existing Echo Show users, and Alexa Plus chats can continue across Show devices, the app and Alexa.com. That puts Amazon’s home ecosystem—not only new hardware—at the center of its October product push.
