- Tilly Norwood will front "Misaligned," her first feature film, a comedy-drama from AI studio Particle 6 described as a "coming-of-age story infused with existential AI chaos."
- "Misaligned" is set inside the "Tillyverse," a digital world "somewhere up in the Cloud," where Tilly — an AI with no body, childhood or lived experience — is seduced by a rogue bot from the dark web into abandoning her guardrails.
- Particle 6 is positioning "Misaligned" as a hybrid production pairing traditional directors, writers and editors with AI specialists, and says AI training and mentorship will be built into the production itself.
- Eline van der Velden, CEO & Founder of Particle 6, said the studio's year of work has proven "AI can support premium narrative filmmaking, but only with substantial amounts of human craft, skill, judgement and time."
- The announcement lands less than a year after Norwood became the flashpoint of industry anger in late 2025, when van der Velden's claim that the AI character was about to sign with an agency drew condemnation from unions, actors and filmmakers.
- "Misaligned" is in early development with key collaborators being attached, and will run alongside Particle 6's existing AI production, co-production and commercial work in film and television.
Why it matters: The studio behind one of the most polarizing AI creations of the past year is now scaling up to feature length — and is doing so explicitly by framing the project as human-led. The contrast between the 2025 union backlash and a full feature greenlight less than 12 months later tests how Hollywood's creative guilds respond when an AI "talent" moves from viral provocation to a credited lead role.
