- Art Directors Guild set nominations for the 2027 Excellence in Production Design Awards to be unveiled Thursday, January 7, with online voting opening December 15 and closing January 5 at 5 p.m. PT.
- The guild (IATSE Local 800) renamed its Fantasy film and TV categories to "Fantasy or Sci-Fi Feature Film" and "Fantasy or Sci-Fi Single Camera Series," alongside rule changes detailed on its site.
- ADG unveiled a strengthened Code of Conduct prohibiting harassment or abusive language toward Awards Committee members and Guild staff, with violations subject to eligibility penalties and review by the Art Directors Council.
- ADG President Dina Lipton said the 31st annual awards "celebrate the extraordinary artists whose creativity, collaboration and vision help define the visual worlds audiences experience on screen."
- The ceremony will be produced by Megan Elizabeth Bell and Kate Weddle, with TV and feature film submissions opening October 1 and closing December 7.
- The guild, established in 1937, represents more than 3,000 production designers, art directors, scenic, title and graphic artists, illustrators, matte artists, model makers and set designers.
Why it matters: The Feb. 27, 2027 ceremony locks the ADG Awards into the heart of awards season alongside Oscars-season events, and the Beverly Hilton return reverses a two-year venue experiment. The category renames and tightened Code of Conduct reshape how the guild's 3,000+ members compete and conduct themselves during the process.
