- Garrett Wilson — a well-placed source says there is "no way" the New York Jets trade him by the NFL's Nov. 10 deadline despite interest from other teams; at 26, he is considered one of the most talented receivers in the league.
- New York Jets — signed Wilson to a four-year, $130 million extension running through 2030 a mere 15 months ago, and ownership is said to love him and would want no part of trading him.
- Sauce Gardner — the Jets said a year ago they had no intention of trading Gardner and Quinnen Williams, then dealt both on deadline day for a bevy of draft picks.
- Jeffery Simmons — the Tennessee Titans told teams there was no way they would trade him, then did so Thursday for two first-round picks and a fourth-round pick.
- New York Jets — already hold a surplus of 2027 first-rounders (the Indianapolis Colts' pick plus the higher of Dallas' or Green Bay's) from the Gardner and Williams deals, and at some point need to prioritize making picks rather than accumulating them.
- Wilson — says he wants to remain: "I want to be here, man," and "I want to win games and that's the one thing we've been missing on here," while conceding, "Do I love it more than I love winning? Nah."
- Calvin Ridley — of the receivers drawing deadline attention, the source says Brian Thomas Jr., Josh Downs, Jauan Jennings, Jerry Jeudy and Ridley may be attainable in the days before Nov. 10, unlike Wilson.
Why it matters: New York can deal from abundance: it already holds two 2027 first-rounders from the Gardner and Williams trades, and Brian Thomas Jr., Josh Downs and others are described as attainable before Nov. 10. That lets the Jets upgrade elsewhere without moving Wilson, even though Simmons' Thursday deal shows a "no way" claim can still be broken.
