- Cartoon Forum unveiled its 2026 Tribute nominees 12 days before opening, with 10 companies from seven countries competing across three established categories voted on by attendees from roughly 40 countries.
- Producer of the Year nominees are Bionaut (Czech Republic), Bobby Prod (France), Mago Production (Spain) and Melusine Productions (Luxembourg), each with prior Cartoon Forum projects including "9 Million Colors," "Polinopolis" and "Mebh and the Wolf Pups."
- Folivari International and Mediawan Kids & Family (both France) plus Germany's Studio 100 International compete in the Investor/Distributor category for titles such as "Samuel," "Ki & Hi" and "Maya and the Bee."
- The Broadcaster shortlist pairs the BBC ("Dungeon & Kittens"), Sweden's SVT ("Team Nuggets") and Germany's Südwestrundfunk ("Sir Mouse").
- Cartoon Forum is adding a fourth Tribute, the Ecoprod-Cartoon Tribute honoring sustainability contributions, organized with French non-profit Ecoprod.
- Inaugural Ecoprod-Cartoon Tribute nominees are France's Gao Shan Pictures ("The Smurfs") and La Cabane Productions, plus Ireland's Cartoon Saloon ("Wolfwalkers").
- Since its 1990 founding, Cartoon Forum has helped finance 1,053 animation series totaling more than $4.43 billion.
Why it matters: Embedding a sustainability category into Cartoon Forum's Tributes marks a shift from treating green production as a side initiative to peer-recognized industry standard, and with 1,053 series and $4.43 billion in financing steered since 1990, the forum has the leverage to make that signal felt across the 40-country buyer and producer base attending Toulouse.
