- Breece Hall went down untouched after a catch on Aug. 17, with ESPN's Rich Cimini reporting a possible groin injury; Jets coach Aaron Glenn told reporters afterward, "I don't think it was a big deal."
- Jeremiyah Love, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, rushed for 58 yards on 11 carries and added three receptions for 14 yards in his preseason debut before exiting with a high ankle sprain on Aug. 16.
- Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur initially said Love "could have returned" to action but later ruled him out of Week 2 of the preseason, leaving his status for the Sept. 13 season opener uncertain.
- Chase Bisontis, the Cardinals' No. 34 overall pick and former Texas A&M interior lineman, tore his MCL in the preseason opener on Aug. 14 and will miss his entire rookie season.
- Marcus Mariota (Commanders) sprained his MCL, Jamal Adams (Vikings) suffered a season-ending knee injury, and Graham Mertz (Texans) tore his ACL — underscoring that nearly every Week 1 team absorbed some damage.
Why it matters: The Cardinals absorbed the harshest blow of preseason Week 1, losing both their top two 2026 draft picks before the regular season — No. 3 overall pick Jeremiyah Love sidelined by a lingering high ankle sprain with the Sept. 13 opener in doubt, and No. 34 pick Chase Bisontis out for his entire rookie season with a torn MCL.
