- Meta announced a new WhatsApp Business Tools MCP server that connects AI coding agents — including Claude, Cursor, Codex, and ChatGPT — directly to the WhatsApp Business Platform, replacing a setup process that previously required toggling between the Developer Console, Business Manager, API reference, and editor.
- The MCP server lets the AI agent handle busywork like creating a company's WhatsApp Business account, adding and verifying its phone number, registering it for Cloud API access, and checking the business's Terms of Service.
- Businesses can also use the AI agent to describe and generate messaging templates, edit existing templates, test messages and webhooks, and monitor background checks like Terms of Service, payment method, and Business Verification that may previously have quietly failed.
- Meta's complementary Meta Social Technologies MCP server can be used during setup and configuration to discover API endpoints, search documentation, and troubleshoot errors, the company noted.
