- Siri AI now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish in beta, can remember details from past conversations and answer accordingly, and can draw on photos attached in Messages, calendar attendees, voicemails, Safari history and reading lists; users can exclude apps from its memories.
- iPhone Duo received Apple Pencil support in Notes and Preview, plus an Edge Light effect for highlighting the user’s face during video calls, while early buyers faced display-related problems.
- FaceTime added Dual Capture for streaming from front and rear cameras simultaneously in group calls, plus support for a third-party sign-language interpreter or live captioner.
- iPhone gained Multiview for watching up to four live sports streams simultaneously on Apple TV, including MLS, Formula 1 in the U.S. and Friday Night Baseball doubleheaders.
- iOS 27.2 contains more than 160 security fixes, many backported to iOS 26; Apple also issued an iOS 18 fix for a bug it said may have been exploited in an ‘extremely sophisticated attack’ against specific targeted individuals on versions before iOS 27.
- Apple reported that about 80% of iPhone owners were still running iOS 26 as iOS 27.2 began rolling out.
Why it matters: Apple’s security push reaches beyond the newest release: iOS 27.2 contains more than 160 fixes, many backported to iOS 26, while a patch for a possibly exploited bug was also issued for iOS 18. With about 80% of iPhone owners still on iOS 26, the backports reach the majority of the installed base rather than only the newest update.
