- Anthropic is launching Claude Cowork on mobile and web starting Tuesday, with access rolling out first to Max subscribers and reaching users on other plans "in the coming weeks."
- Claude Cowork was previously available only through the macOS and Windows desktop app; iOS and Android users can now access it, though Anthropic says the desktop app still delivers the "full experience," including local file access.
- Cowork sessions now run in the cloud by default, allowing users to continue work across devices or let the agent execute tasks in the background after the laptop is closed.
- Scheduled Cowork tasks will now run even when none of the user's devices are online, and Claude can send push notifications to the phone when a task is ready for review or approval.
- Desktop Cowork users retain the option to toggle between cloud and local processing on the app.
- Anthropic is extending its doubled Cowork usage limits through August 5th alongside the expansion.
Why it matters: The cloud-default shift repositions Cowork from a desktop-bound productivity tool into an always-on agent that completes work without the user keeping a device awake, and Max subscribers get first access — meaning Anthropic is gating the always-on experience behind its priciest tier while keeping free capacity flowing through August 5th.
