- Edko Films, the Hong Kong sales company led by Bill Kong, boarded "We Are Born Good" to represent the Cantonese-language drama in world sales ahead of its world premiere in the Discovery section of the Toronto Film Festival.
- Director Yeung Leung Chuen drew the film's premise from a viral Hong Kong CCTV clip of a market customer and vendor escalating a minor collision into an all-out fight, using the incident to explore the pressures of contemporary urban life.
- Chung Suet Ying, winner of best leading actress at the 61st Golden Horse Awards for "The Way We Talk," plays Zoey opposite Yeung Wai Lun — nominated for best actor at the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards for "The Sparring Partner" — as Wing-kat, with the two characters' restaurant-mishap feud deepening until each discovers the greater threat comes from those closest to them.
- Veteran producer Patricia Cheng, with more than two decades of experience and credits on multiple Sylvia Chang–directed films, produces the project.
- The crew includes 8-time Hong Kong Film Awards costume design winner Dora Ng, 13-time Golden Horse Award sound design winner Duu Chih Tu (whose past collaborators include Wong Kar-wai, Edward Yang and Hou Hsiao-hsien), and editor Wenders Li, a longtime collaborator of director Pang Ho-cheung.
- Before his feature debut, Yeung won best director at the 12th Fresh Wave International Short Film Festival for "The Bridge," and his screenplay for "Hong Kong Family" was selected for the 27th Busan International Film Festival.
Why it matters: Edko's pickup places a first-time Hong Kong director on the TIFF Discovery stage with a sales outfit known for cross-border Asian cinema hits. The crew pedigree — a 13-time Golden Horse sound designer, an 8-time HKFA costume winner, and a Sylvia Chang–collaborating veteran producer — gives the debut an institutional weight that materially improves its festival-to-market trajectory.
