- Johnny Depp said he would return as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 for one reason: “I want to send them off on a better note.”
- Depp stopped short of confirming that he will reprise the role or put the pirate costume on again.
- Entertainment Tonight interviewed Depp during his Ebenezer press tour, where he addressed his potential involvement in the sixth Pirates installment.
- Johnny Depp was identified as an Oscar nominee while discussing both Jack Sparrow’s future and his wish to leave the series on a stronger note.
Why it matters: For *Pirates of the Caribbean 6* and Jack Sparrow’s audience, the key distinction is between a stated motive and a confirmed commitment. Depp’s wish to “send them off on a better note” gives the prospective sixth film a clear creative endpoint, while his non-confirmation leaves his return unresolved.
