Amazon Orders 'Robocop' Series With Peter Ocko, James Wan

- Amazon MGM Studios greenlit a Robocop TV series from showrunner Peter Ocko (Lodge 49) and Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett executive producing and Danielle Bozzone co-executive producing on the company's behalf.
- Ed Neumeier, co-creator and co-writer of the original 1987 RoboCop film directed by Paul Verhoeven, is also an executive producer, giving the project direct lineage to the source material.
- The series premise follows a giant tech conglomerate convincing a city to place a powerful robot on its police force — the robot implanted with the consciousness of a beloved, fallen officer, framing the show as a contemporary update on the franchise's corporate-satire roots.

- Amazon recently opted not to proceed with a previously greenlit Stargate TV series, while Legally Blonde prequel 'Elle' has been renewed for a second season and Barbershop and The Magnificent Seven are also moving forward for Prime Video and MGM+.
Why it matters: Amazon's post-MGM-acquisition IP slate is delivering uneven results: Robocop joins Elle (renewed) and Barbershop as greenlit series, while the previously ordered Stargate series was recently shelved.
