- The Tony Awards Administration Committee announced its Nominating Committee for the 2026-27 Broadway season, naming several new members including former Washington Post chief theater critic Peter Marks.
- Playwrights José Rivera and Migdalia Cruz are among the new appointees, adding active theater-making voices to the body that determines Tony nominations.
- Daniel K. Isaac is also named as a new member of the 2026-27 Nominating Committee.
- Each Broadway season, the Nominating Committee attends productions across the season to select the nominees for that year's Tony Awards.
Why it matters: The Nominating Committee decides which Broadway shows and artists get Tony recognition each season, so its roster directly shapes the awards' direction. Bringing in working playwrights Cruz and Rivera alongside a high-profile former critic like Marks broadens the professional perspectives weighing in on the 2026-27 contenders.
