- Twitch launched a "Training for Generative AI" toggle in its Security and Privacy settings that lets streamers exclude streams, VODs, clips, stream chats, and channel pictures and text from training Amazon generative AI models.
- The opt-out applies only to models designed to "generate or synthesize text, audio, images, or video" — captions, viewer recommendations, and AutoMod safety tools continue to function regardless of the toggle.
- The reporter found the toggle enabled by default and has asked Amazon to confirm whether new accounts are set to opt-in or opt-out.
- Chat data from a viewer on another streamer's channel is governed by that streamer's opt-out preferences, not the viewer's own settings, Twitch said.

Why it matters: Streamers who don't flip the toggle — which was found toggled on by default in at least one account — are consenting to have their archives train Amazon's generative models. But opting out doesn't reclaim full control: Twitch keeps using content for captions, recommendations, AutoMod, and sponsorship tools regardless of the setting.
