Starz Adapts 'The Wolf King' With Tanya Saracho

- Starz is developing a TV adaptation of "The Wolf King," Lauren Palphreyman's 2023 romantic fantasy about a princess named Aurora who is kidnapped by a werewolf, trapped in a "lethal love triangle," and drawn into a war between humankind and "her feral captors."
- The network has optioned Palphreyman's full trilogy: 2023's "The Wolf King," 2025's "The Night Prince," and the third installment "The Wolf Queen," set for release this November.
- Tanya Saracho will serve as showrunner and executive produce alongside author Palphreyman, calling the project a "full-circle moment" after her three-season run on Starz's "Vida" (2018–2020).
- Kathryn Busby, Starz's president of original programming, said Palphreyman's "rich world" and Saracho's "instinct for sexy, nuanced storytelling" made them the right pairing to bring "this saga to screen with all the heat and heart it deserves."
- Saracho said she discovered the book as an indie release "over a year ago" and has been "lovingly championing it ever since," calling it "an exciting departure from the genre I'm typically known for."
Why it matters: By reuniting Saracho with the network that housed 'Vida' for three seasons and optioning all three books upfront, Starz is signaling confidence in a multi-season romantasy franchise rather than a single-season pilot bet.
