- Yankees swept the two-game AL Wild Card Series over the Red Sox, closing it out with a 9-2 win on Wednesday
- Ben Rice and Cam Schlittler, identified as homegrown Yankees talent, led the way in the clinching victory
- The source characterizes the series result as a "thorough two-game beatdown" of Boston
- Yankees advance to the ALDS, where the Rays await as their next opponent
Why it matters: The sweep ends Boston's season and sends New York into the ALDS against a familiar AL East foe in Tampa Bay. The prominence of homegrown contributors like Rice and Schlittler — rather than headline free-agent signings — reframes the Yankees' postseason identity around player development heading into a tougher divisional matchup.
