- Trump said after meeting with his national security advisers Thursday that he would soon decide whether to resume all-out war in Iran now that the midterms were over.
- The election was seen as an inflection point for Trump, with the choice framed as whether to unleash a new wave of bombing.
Why it matters: For Iran, the immediate change is procedural: Trump said Thursday, after meeting advisers, that a decision on renewed all-out war would come soon now that the midterms were over. The question of a new bombing wave is therefore tied to a stated decision point, even as other headlines foreground his threat to “destroy” Iran.
