- Google selected 20 AI-powered Indian startups for the 2026 cohort of Google Play Accelerator India, a three-month, equity-free programme focused on app quality, AI integration, security, user growth, and revenue models.
- The 2026 cohort spans education, healthcare, gaming, agriculture, finance, ecommerce, productivity, lifestyle, and entertainment — including named startups HeyDoc AI and MrMed (healthcare), UrbanPro and Lingopanda (education), ChennaiGames and MetaShot (gaming), Kisanwala (agritech), and Swipe and Zet (fintech).
- Aditya Swamy, Managing Director of Google Play Partnerships, said "India's next wave of app innovation is being built with AI at the centre," framing the cohort as building trusted products for India and global markets.
- Paul Ravindranath, Regional Lead of Developer and Startup Programs at Google, said the company will work with founders over the next three months on responsible AI integration, security, growth, and monetization for users in India and global markets.
- The announcement comes as large tech firms intensify efforts to attract early-stage AI startups through accelerators, cloud credits, and developer tools; Google also recently unveiled new AI capabilities, developer tools, and infrastructure at Google I/O Connect India.
