- Koudéta Films acquired French distribution rights to Hosam Abu Dan’s “Thirteen in Gaza,” billed as the first film shot on the Gaza Strip since the Israel-Hamas war began in 2023.
- Mad World, the international sales arm of Mad Solutions, closed the French distribution deal ahead of the film’s Middle East premiere at the Doha Film Festival on Nov. 19–27.
- “Thirteen in Gaza” world-premiered in September in the Toronto Film Festival’s Centrepiece programme, won the NETPAC Award and was picked up for U.S. distribution by Watermelon Pictures.
- “Thirteen in Gaza” was filmed in Gaza under wartime conditions with a Palestinian crew and follows Raghad, a 13-year-old who lives with her father in a crowded displacement camp after losing her home and much of her family in a bombing.
- Koudéta Films is launching a French distribution label for political and social films with Palestine at its mission’s center and plans an undated theatrical release in France accompanied by an impact campaign.
Why it matters: The deal gives French audiences a planned theatrical route to a film billed as the first shot on the Gaza Strip since 2023, though the release date remains unset. The Nov. 19–27 Doha Film Festival premiere is the next fixed milestone before that rollout, while Koudéta is also launching a broader Palestine-centered political-film label.
