- TreVeyon Henderson was ruled out for New England's season opener at Seattle after slipping on a run play; he last practiced Aug. 24, leaving Rhamondre Stevenson, recently acquired Corey Kiner, and likely practice-squad elevation Lan Larison or Hassan Haskins as the backfield options.
- Seattle ruled out safety Ty Okada (hamstring, nonparticipant on all three injury reports) and listed safety Nick Emmanwori questionable; Emmanwori had arthroscopic ankle surgery in July, was activated off PUP Aug. 11, and was limited all week.
- Emmanwori, last season's AP Defensive Rookie of the Year runner-up and a 2025 second-round pick, suffered a high right-ankle sprain on the first series of last year's opener and played through a low sprain in the Super Bowl before opting for surgery this summer.
- Bud Clark, Seattle's other second-round safety drafted to push Okada for the starting job vacated by Coby Bryant (who signed with Chicago), suffered a season-ending ankle fracture in the preseason, leaving Rodney Thomas II and AJ Finley as possible elevations from the practice squad.
- Tory Horton, Seattle's No. 4 receiver, is questionable with a hamstring injury after being limited all week, making him the only other Seahawks player with a game designation.
- Henderson played every game last season, totaling 911 rushing yards on 180 carries (5.1 YPC) with nine touchdowns — becoming the first Patriots player ever to record four 50-yard runs or rushing touchdowns in a single season.
Why it matters: Two reigning-champion rosters enter Week 1 short-handed: New England loses its 911-yard back who played all of last season, while Seattle's already thin safety room — gutted by Bud Clark's preseason fracture and Okada's hamstring — may also be without its best playmaker in Emmanwori, against a Patriots team that just beat them in Super Bowl LX.
