- Netflix is building out the cast for its series adaptation of Hannah Grace's Icebreaker, the first book in the Maple Hill series, though no release date has been set.
- Daisy Jelley (Poser, How To Have Sex) will lead as Anastasia "Stassie" Allen, a transfer athlete chasing Olympic gold, opposite Connor Simos (Subversion) as NHL-hopeful Nate Hawkins in the college hockey drama.
- Gabriel Tierney, Auliʻi Cravalho (Moana), newcomer and professional athlete Peter Berry, Chaneil Kular (Sex Education), Devin Craig (Sex Lives of College Girls) and Aidan Shaw (Heated Rivalry) join the ensemble as Aaron, Lola, Robbie, JJ, Henry and Russ respectively.
- Jade Halley Bartlett (Road House, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) created and executive produces the series, with Amanda Lasher (Gossip Girl, The Bold Type) serving as showrunner, writer and EP.
- Hannah Grace, Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan and Mina Lefevre also executive produce, with Cooper producing through her Unwell Productions banner.
- The plot centers on Stassie and Nate whose teams are forced to share one rink after an accident — the official logline frames it as a story where "discipline gives way to obsession."
Why it matters: Icebreaker becomes Netflix's second hockey-themed series currently in development, joining The Sticks, signaling the streamer is doubling down on ice sports dramas as BookTok-driven romance novels continue migrating to screen. For Grace, this marks her first TV adaptation, extending her readership from page to streaming platform.
