- SGN is launching the H100 Fife trial in Levenmouth at Easter 2026, serving homes in Buckhaven and Denbeath with hydrogen produced via on-site electrolysis — billed as the UK's first end-to-end home hydrogen heating system.
- The project's electrolyser, built by Nel, can produce up to 2,093 kg of hydrogen per day, with the system designed for up to 900 homes even though the initial phase serves around 300 households.
- Scaled to the 900-home design point, the source's analysis puts hydrogen heating at roughly 32.7 p/kWh versus Ofgem's April–June 2026 natural gas rate of 5.74 p/kWh — a 6x to 7x premium for the same delivered energy.
