Laing to Direct Working Title's 'Runaway Wedding'

Why it matters: Laing, whose recent résumé leans toward Apple TV prestige (Your Friends & Neighbors, Palm Royale) and her Tribeca drama Tow, now pivots to Working Title's rom-com factory — the studio behind Bridget Jones and Definitely, Maybe — and pairs with Brooks, who wrote both. The hire extends Working Title's parent-chase romantic formula while handing its reins to a director best known for drama and Emmy-winning comedy (Veep).
