- Singapore launched the SG for Humanity network on Nov 5 to strengthen humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza, bringing together the government and four key organizations.
- Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) will facilitate the network, coordinating partnerships and supporting fundraising, logistics, and community engagement for Gaza relief.
- Humanity Matters, Mercy Relief, Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation, and Singapore Red Cross are the founding NGO partners, each with established Gaza aid programs and overseas networks.
- Zaqy Mohamad said the network aims to solve 'last-mile delivery' challenges and enable more Singaporeans to contribute through volunteering, including medical professionals seeking structured government-backed platforms.
- Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim emphasized the government’s role in helping organizations navigate regulatory and security hurdles and ensuring donations reach intended beneficiaries via recognized international partners.
- SG for Humanity has already facilitated over S$25 million in aid since October 2023, with the government adding S$1 million in seed funding in 2025 to support public fundraising and operations.
- Zaqy Mohamad plans a working visit to Egypt to strengthen ties with the Egyptian Red Crescent, Palestinian Red Crescent Society, and UN agencies, exploring safer and more reliable aid channels.
Why it matters: The network consolidates Singapore’s fragmented humanitarian efforts into a unified platform, increasing efficiency and trust in aid delivery. With S$25 million already contributed and more coordinated campaigns expected, this shift enables faster, safer, and more transparent assistance to Gaza—especially critical amid ongoing access and security challenges.
