- The 13th annual LMGI Awards are set for Aug. 22 at The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica, with "One Battle After Another," "F1" and "Pluribus" among the marquee nominees across feature, TV and limited-series categories.
- The LMGI Awards received a record number of submissions from around the world, which organizers said uniquely demonstrate how locations enrich storytelling and filmmaking.
- "One Battle After Another" was shot in at least nine California counties, at L.A. North Studios and in El Paso, Texas, while "F1" filmed at actual racing tracks including Silverstone, Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi between real Formula 1 races.
- Mike Fantasia will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognized for a career spanning nearly 40 feature films including "Top Gun: Maverick," "Killers of the Flower Moon" and "Spider-Man: Homecoming."
- The Environmental Media Association will receive the LMGI Humanitarian Award for advancing sustainable production across film and television.
- Nominees span seven categories — contemporary and period features, TV series, anthologies/limited series, commercials and film commissions — with Netflix, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, HBO and Warner Bros. heavily represented among the contending projects.
Why it matters: The 13th annual LMGI Awards honor the location scouts and film commissions that enabled everything from F1's real-race-track access to nine-county California shoots for Paul Thomas Anderson's film. A record submission year and the Environmental Media Association's humanitarian award for sustainable production show the guild's expanding scope beyond pure craft recognition.
