You can now use ChatGPT with Apple’s CarPlay

Why it matters: This integration allows 110 million CarPlay users to interact with ChatGPT hands-free while driving.
- ChatGPT is now accessible via Apple CarPlay, requiring iOS 26.4 or newer and the latest ChatGPT app version (9to5Mac).
- Apple's iOS 26.4 update added support for "voice-based conversational apps" in CarPlay, paving the way for AI chatbot integration (9to5Mac).
- CarPlay's ChatGPT interface is voice-only, without displaying text conversations, though it includes on-screen mute and end conversation buttons (9to5Mac).
- Users can view a list of recent ChatGPT conversations but must tap the app to activate it, as wake words are not supported (MacRumors).
ChatGPT is now integrated with Apple CarPlay for users with iOS 26.4 and the latest ChatGPT app, enabling voice-only interactions directly from the car dashboard. While text conversations are suppressed to comply with Apple's developer guidelines, users can access recent chat history and control conversations via on-screen buttons.
