- Hulu is in development on a TV adaptation of Elle Kennedy's novel "Thornbird," described in the source as a coming-of-age thriller about a girl at the center of the story
- Marlene King is set as writer and executive producer, bringing prior credits from "Pretty Little Liars" and "Now & Then"
- 20th Television is producing the project
- Elle Kennedy is best known as the author of the "Off Campus" book series; "Thornbird" represents her latest novel heading to television
Why it matters: Pairing King's YA-thriller track record with Kennedy's established romance readership signals Hulu's continued strategy of mining genre-fiction brands for streaming. For Kennedy, a Hulu order broadens exposure beyond her core BookTok romance audience into prestige-TV viewers.
