- Ever.green and SuperPower facilitated a subscription-based VPPA letting thousands of individual video game players — including those playing games like NBA 2K26 and PGA Tour 2K25 — back capacity at Mitsui & Co.'s 110-MW ThreeW solar project in Hill County, Texas, south of Dallas, which recently began commercial operations.
- ThreeW solar project is expected to produce 280,000 MWh annually; SuperPower claims 10 MW of solar can offset about 125 million hours of gaming per year, accounting for power drawn by consoles and cloud data centers supporting networked gameplay.
- Cris Eugster, a former Texas utility executive and Ever.green's founder and CEO, said the firm believes the ThreeW arrangement is "one of" the first of its kind, though the underlying VPPA structure is not novel — it enables fractionalized commitments for buyers who don't need hundreds of megawatts.
- ERCOT has nearly 30 GWh of energy storage on its grid, per the Solar Energy Industries Association — a rapid buildout that has dampened wholesale price volatility but squeezed some proposed storage project economics, making upfront contracted revenue from VPPAs more valuable for developers.
- Ever.green has also structured a West Texas repowered wind farm that nearly doubled capacity (smallest contract at 1,000 MWh annually), a 28-MW solar farm backed by Wells Fargo in South Carolina, and a 3.2-MW solar procurement by a West Virginia school district.
