- Lucid began pushing Air UX 3.0 today as part of software version 2.11.0, with the new interface modeled on the Gravity SUV's UX, which won a Gold iF Design Award in 2024.
- 2025 and newer Air owners get the update free over the air, but owners of 2022, 2023, and some 2024 Airs must first pay Lucid $950 for an infotainment processor swap at a service center because their existing hardware can't run the new interface (installation included, taxes extra; international pricing not yet announced).
- Interface changes include swipeable cards on the Cockpit Panel behind the steering wheel, a Quick Controls drop-down menu on the Pilot Panel, a revamped dual-screen navigation layout, EV routing with preferred charging networks and a minimum arrival range setting, faster profile switching with a six-digit PIN to exit Guest mode, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto now stretching across the full right side of the Cockpit display.
- Early adopters who paid up to $169,000 for the 2022 Air Dream Edition are the cohort being asked to pay again — Lucid contrasts its $950 fee with Tesla's $2,500 (later cut to $1,500) infotainment retrofit for older Model S and Model X vehicles in 2020, though Lucid's charge applies to cars that are only two to four years old.
- Lucid VP of Software Marc Solsona Palomar said Air owners will enjoy more reliable and intuitive experiences, but Electrek's review of the Gravity this summer found software bugs still present in the same interface being ported over — a frozen seat app, navigation opening and closing on its own, and key-tracking failures.
- The update marks only the third major version of the Air's interface since deliveries began in late 2021, following UX 2.0 in October 2022.
Why it matters: The owners who took the earliest financial risk on Lucid — some paying $169,000 for a 2022 Air Dream Edition — are the ones now charged $950 for a hardware swap just to access software that 2025 buyers get free over the air, while Lucid itself has yet to announce what it will charge them in markets outside the US.
