- Xiaomi revealed the SkyNomad N90, its first extended-range electric vehicle, with CEO Lei Jun posting exterior images and MIIT regulatory filings confirming specs across four models: the N90 Max, N90 Max Camping Edition, N70, and N70 Max.
- The flagship N90 Max measures 5,285 mm long with a 3,080 mm wheelbase, uses dual motors (210 kW + 100 kW), a CALB ternary lithium battery (70–80 kWh), and a 1.5L turbo range extender from Harbin Dongan that only charges the battery, delivering 400–500 km pure-electric and 1,500+ km combined range.
- The N90 Max Camping Edition adds a pop-up roof, rooftop bed platform, side cabinets, and a side-tent interface, while the standard N90's front seats rotate 180° to face the second row in Park mode to create a lounge with a sliding center armrest and zero-gravity second-row seats.
- SkyNomad is Xiaomi's second vehicle series, built on the all-new Kunlun architecture developed from scratch starting early 2023 with a flat floor and long seat rails for cabin reconfiguration, contrasting with the SU7/YU7 "driver's car" positioning.
- Chinese media report the SkyNomad range will start as low as 200,000 yuan (~$29,420), undercutting the Li Auto L9 and Aito M9, both priced above 250,000 yuan, which together took seven of China's top 10 best-selling EREV SUVs in 2025.
- The Li Auto L9 has been struggling, with deliveries down 74% year-over-year in the first four months of 2026, opening a timing window for Xiaomi's entry.
- Xiaomi is targeting 550,000 deliveries in 2026 (up 34% from 2025) but delivered only 185,055 vehicles in H1, roughly 34% of that annual goal, making SkyNomad central to closing that gap.
Why it matters: Xiaomi is pricing SkyNomad at roughly $29,420 against Li Auto and Aito models above $29,400, directly challenging the two brands that dominated China's 2025 EREV SUV sales. With the L9 already down 74% YoY through April 2026 and Xiaomi having delivered only ~34% of its 550,000-unit 2026 target by midyear, the N90's late-Q3 launch becomes a critical volume lever.
