- The Miami Heat acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis from the Milwaukee Bucks for Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, the No. 13 pick in Tuesday's NBA draft, a 2030 first-round pick swap, and first-round picks in 2031 and 2033 — with the deal still pending league approval.
- Giannis Antetokounmpo is a two-time NBA MVP, 10-time All-Star, and nine-time All-NBA selection who led Milwaukee to the 2021 NBA title and averaged 27.6 points in an injury-shortened 2025-26 season.
- The Bucks were also weighing an offer from Boston before settling on Miami, and had fired coach Doc Rivers after the season before hiring Taylor Jenkins — who was told Antetokounmpo may or may not still be on the roster.
- The Heat previously landed Shaquille O'Neal in 2004 and LeBron James alongside Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade in 2010 in similar superstar-driven blockbuster moves, with Bam Adebayo the only player Miami refused to part with in this deal.
- Antetokounmpo shares an agent with Heat center Bam Adebayo and has spoken highly of Miami over the years, and at 31 is widely presumed to be in line for a massive extension from the Heat later this year.
