Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze Surf Back into Theaters for ‘Point Break’s’ 35th Anniversary – Film News in Brief

- "Point Break" returns to theaters in a new 4K restoration on Aug. 16 and 19 to mark its 35th anniversary, distributed by Resurgence Media Group, Saga Arts, and Fathom Entertainment.
- Surfer Matt Archbold, who doubled for Patrick Swayze on water and taught Reeves and the rest of the cast how to surf, will deliver an exclusive pre-film introduction and share behind-the-scenes production stories.
- The 1991 film, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, follows FBI agent Johnny Utah (Reeves) going undercover among surfers to track the mask-wearing "Ex-Presidents" bank-robbing gang, only to be pulled into the orbit of charismatic surfer Bodhi (Swayze); the ensemble also includes Gary Busey, Lori Petty, John C. McGinley, James LeGros, and Anthony Kiedis.
- Shannah Miller, VP of marketing at Fathom Entertainment, said the restoration gives "that devoted following exactly what they've been asking for," with tickets available now online and at participating theater box offices.
