PPC finishes 2.13 GW solar farm on Greek coal mines

- PPC completed a 2.13 GW solar cluster on former lignite mines around Amyntaio and Ptolemaida in northern Greece.
- The cluster can generate a combined 3.15 TWh annually, roughly 6 % of Greece’s total electricity consumption.
- Amyntaio solar complex (940 MW) was developed with RWE, and the nearby Phoebe photovoltaic plant (550 MW) near Pontokomi is the EU’s second‑largest single‑site solar project.
- Helios Velos 1 (200 MW), plus Exochi 7 (80 MW), Akrini (80 MW) and ten smaller sites, all sit on former lignite areas.
- PPC has installed two battery energy storage systems totaling 98 MW/196 MWh, and is constructing a 50 MW/200 MWh BESS near Amyntaio for four‑hour grid supply.
- PPC says it will continue developing and integrating larger‑scale storage systems in the same regions as the solar sites.
