- Meryl Streep is taking over the role of Aslan in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Narnia movie, the casting at the center of Neeson’s reaction.
- Liam Neeson said there is “nobody better” than Streep for the role, explicitly endorsing her casting as Aslan.
- Liam Neeson voiced Aslan, the mythical lion, in the original Chronicles of Narnia film trilogy, giving him direct experience with the character Streep is taking over.
- Liam Neeson admitted he had been unaware of Gerwig’s new adaptation, calling the development “This is news to me.”
Why it matters: **Meryl Streep** gains a favorable public endorsement from the actor who previously voiced Aslan across the original three-film *Chronicles of Narnia* trilogy, while **Liam Neeson**’s “news to me” admission shows that his praise came without prior knowledge of Gerwig’s adaptation. The exchange offers public praise rather than inside knowledge about the casting process.
