Invinity delivers 20.7 MWh vanadium flow battery to UK

- Invinity Energy Systems delivered 20.7 MWh of vanadium flow batteries — 90 units total — to the Copwood VFB Energy Hub in East Sussex, paired with a 3 MW solar array to time-shift daytime generation into evening and overnight grid supply.
- Invinity says the battery system can store roughly enough electricity to cover the daily needs of around 3,000 homes, and touts the water-based electrolyte as fire-risk-free — a point the company is leaning into as planners and communities push back on large battery projects.
- The Copwood project was funded through the UK government's Longer Duration Energy Storage demonstration program, delivered by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, with additional investment from the UK National Wealth Fund, which is a shareholder in Invinity.
