Trump Claims Full Hormuz Control, Demands Iran Reparations

Why it matters: The impasse puts roughly a fifth of the world's pre-war oil traffic at risk as both sides harden demands — Trump now seeking reparations from Iran while Iran demands U.S. payments, sanctions relief, and military withdrawal. With Brent at $87.72 and WTI at $82.13 sitting well above pre-conflict levels and tanker traffic still subdued, the market has effectively priced in a prolonged stalemate with no diplomatic off-ramp in sight.
