- Egypt held back from joining the defence pact being formed by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, with Middle East Eye examining the reasons behind Cairo's refusal.
- Iran stated publicly that there is no reason to fear the Pakistan-Turkey-Saudi security pact, per Reuters reporting.
Why it matters: Egypt's absence leaves a major Sunni Arab military power outside the three-nation framework, narrowing the pact's reach in the Arab world, while Tehran's dismissal suggests the deal is not seen as an immediate military threat by Iran.
