- Trump claimed on Friday that the U.S. war against Iran would end “soon.”
- Trump was weighing authorization of military strikes on the Islamic Republic at the same time he made the “soon” claim.
Why it matters: The unresolved contrast is the story: Trump said Friday that the war would end “soon,” while the same passage says he was weighing authorization of military strikes. For the U.S. and Iran, the excerpt supplies no end date, terms, or conditions for that claimed ending.
