- Volkswagen unveiled the ID. Tiguan, an all-electric SUV replacing the ID.4 and ID.5, which have sold over 950,000 units since launching in 2021.
- The ID. Tiguan debuts VW's "Pure Positive" design language with a boxy SUV profile, chunky front end, and traditional pull-style door handles replacing the ID.4's flush handles.
- Inside, physical buttons return below the 15" center display and on the steering wheel, alongside a 10" Digital Cockpit and optional 12" passenger screen.
- Three powertrains are offered: 140 kW RWD (58 kWh), 210 kW RWD (77 kWh), and 220 kW 4MOTION AWD (77 kWh), with the larger battery enabling up to 2,000 kg of towing.
- The ID. Tiguan delivers up to 372 miles (600 km) of WLTP range, described by VW as a "new benchmark" for its electric SUVs in Europe.
- European sales start October 13 from €42,695 (~$47,800) across Trend, Life, Style, and R-Line trims, with a North American launch to follow as the ID.4's successor.
Why it matters: With 372 miles of WLTP range, restored physical buttons, and a boxy SUV profile replacing the ID.4's aerodynamic look, Volkswagen is repositioning its core EV around more conventional buyer preferences — a significant reset for a model line that has moved 950,000 units since 2021.
