- Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca will headline the Speakers' Summit at TIFF: The Market on Sept. 11, participating in an in-depth conversation with TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey as part of the Dialogues program, of which Variety is the media partner.
- Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group's slate topped the domestic box office for 15 weeks and the global box office for 16 weeks last year, with Sinners, Weapons, and One Battle After Another among the year's 10 highest-grossing films and earning more than $4 billion worldwide.
- The session will cover "the evolving role of studios in an increasingly global marketplace, the art of identifying and developing award-winning content, and the opportunities and challenges shaping both the current entertainment landscape and the future of film," per the Market.
- TIFF: The Market, the Toronto International Film Festival's inaugural industry market, runs Sept. 10–16, with Dialogues head Charles Tremblay positioning the program as "straightforward and genuinely useful to professionals working in every area of the business."
- Abdy and De Luca framed their participation as a values alignment, saying TIFF has "championed bold creative visions" for more than half a century and that Warner Bros. remains "committed to nurturing distinctive voices across each of the studio's theatrical labels."
- Additional speakers and full program details for the Dialogues series and Speakers' Summit, supported by Ontario Creates, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Why it matters: TIFF's inaugural market signals the festival's expansion into a year-round industry hub, and booking Warner Bros.' co-chairs — who steered a $4 billion-plus box office year — gives the new Dialogues program marquee credibility before the first delegate even arrives on Sept. 10.
