- Geely unveiled its fifth-generation Smart Charging Station rated at up to 2,250 kW peak, charging the Lynk & Co 10/Zeekr 001 battery from 10% to 70% in 4 minutes 30 seconds — edging BYD's 1,500 kW Flash Charging network (which takes the same pack to 70% in 5 minutes).
- Geely's new 'lithium-ion pulse restoration technology' sends micro-pulse currents through cells to reactivate lithium ions that accumulate on the anode during fast charging, with the company claiming up to 20% more battery cycle life as a best case.
- Geely co-developed its Xingrui PowerMind AI model with Chinese AI startup StepFun, coordinating vehicle, battery, charger, cloud, grid, and station storage; it forecasts battery temperature up to 30 seconds ahead and targets 55°C average / 65°C peak during charging.
- Geely built what it calls the industry's first five-point liquid cooling system — covering energy storage battery, charging pile, cable, charging port, and battery pack — to keep heat in check at 2.25 MW.
- Geely introduced a Next-Gen Ultra Short Blade Battery aimed at affordable models, supporting up to 6C peak charging and generating 10% less heat than alternatives via laser-welded cell tabs and covers.
- Tesla has taken a different approach since 2017, limiting Supercharging speeds on packs with many DC fast-charge cycles — making Geely's restorative solution a notable alternative to throttling.
Why it matters: Geely is targeting the fastest-growing pain point in China's EV charging race: lithium plating from ultra-fast charging, which silently degrades packs. If the 20% cycle-life claim holds in independent testing, it shifts the competitive question from peak charging speed alone to long-term pack health, giving Geely a distinctive angle against BYD's 10,000+ Flash Charging stations while US EVs still mostly top out below 350 kW.
